How to become a pilot for SAS
At Center Air Pilot Academy, we train pilots for SAS through MPL. As an SAS MPL student at CAPA, you will be prepared to go straight into the cockpit after completing your training, as you will have been trained in SAS procedures and built a SAS identity throughout your studies.
Training plan
01
Admission to the SAS MPL program
To be admitted to the SAS MPL program, you must first complete an entrance exam at CAPA. This test assesses your abilities in logical reasoning, teamwork, and practical flying skills to determine your potential for the program. Once you have completed the first year of the training, SAS will evaluate your progress and performance. The final admission test for the SAS program takes place later and determines your future within the SAS MPL program.
02
Training program and SAS entrance exam
All students begin on the same training program, which combines theoretical studies and practical flying during the first year. After approximately 12-14 months, you will have the opportunity to participate in a SAS admission test. SAS will assess your results and performance from both the test and your overall training progress. If admitted, the remainder of the program will be tailored toward a career at SAS, starting immediately after graduation. If not, you will continue on the integrated program.
03
Training targeted at the SAS MPL program
If you are admitted to the SAS MPL program, your pilot training will be fully aligned with a future role as a first officer at SAS. The program concludes with a Type Rating on the Airbus A320, with both the Type Rating and preceding flights conducted according to SAS procedures. Your final exam takes place in a A320 simulator, and upon passing, you will complete six landings in a real Airbus A320. Following this, you will begin your role as a first officer at SAS, flying passengers to destinations across Europe.
SAS is Scandinavian both in name and nature, and their operational priorities are:

We expect nothing less than excellent piloting skills from you, along with leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate widely to ensure a safe flight and the best possible travel experience for our customers.
We make life easier by making time count for travelers, employees, and the planet.
